A geopolymer is a type of inorganic polymer that is created from a combination of materials that usually include an aluminosilicate source material, such as fly ash, and an alkaline activator, such as sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide. Geopolymers have a wide range of uses, including construction, cement, and as a building material. Geopolymers are environmentally friendly due to their low carbon footprint and the ability to replace traditional, carbon–intensive materials.
