Traditional Cement
is not Sustainable

We create environmentally friendly alternatives to traditional cement because reducing emissions from cement production is essential for a sustainable future.
As greenhouse gas levels rise worldwide, it has been acknowledged by science and industry alike that one of the chief man-made contributors to increased CO2 levels is the manufacturing and use of portland cement concrete.
Approximately 8% of the world’s carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions are caused by the production of concrete. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), the cement industry is responsible for around 5% of global greenhouse gas emissions, with the production of concrete accounting for a large portion of these emissions.

Concrete production alone is responsible for 9% of industrial water withdrawal (or 1.7% of total global water withdrawal).

With projections for population growth, demand for water to produce concrete will continue to grow. Unless mitigation strategies are implemented this will create water stress in some geographic areas and exacerbate it in others.

Over the next 35 years, the global water withdrawal for concrete production, if unchecked, will be equivalent to the total water withdrawal (agricultural, industrial, residential, and municipal) for the past 5-6 years in the United States.  – Nature.com
